Our Legal Family
The founding member of our firm is Terri–Ann Guyah Tolan. She has ten
years of experience in the legal field in Jamaica and has practiced at all
levels of the court system in Jamaica and in the Privy Council, United
Kingdom. She was the former Senior Associate at the renowned
Ballantyne, Beswick & Company for three years, the Legal Director at
Jamaica Environment Trust and Associate at Townsend, Whyte & Porter.
She has spearheaded numerous commercial matters including but not
limited to environmental and admiralty claims, aviation litigation, mergers
and acquisitions, real estate, revenue appeals, shareholder disputes and
derivative actions, complex cyber-fraud, employment and labour disputes, customs law, Proceeds of Crime litigation, constitutional claims and judicial review, defamation and all
types of injunctive relief.
She has, in her prior experience, represented commercial clients such as Sagicor Bank Jamaica
Limited, Algix Jamaica Limited, Private Security Regulation Authority, Tankweld Limited, Champion
Industrial Equipment & Supplies Limited and Pan Caribbean Sugar Company Limited.
She is a current member of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, the Jamaican Bar AssociationCriminal Practice and Procedure, Board Member of the Climate Change Advisory Board and Director
of the Shortwood Foundation. Terri-Ann is a certified Real Estate Salesman and is undertaking a
Masters in International Maritime Law.
Terri-Ann is ably supported by two Associates, Miss Aisha Shanice Thomas and Mrs. Allison
Brown-Tucker.
Aisha holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of
the West Indies, Jamaica and obtained her Legal Education Certificate
with Principal’s Honours in 2019.
She has garnered significant experience in commercial and litigation
matters with a specialty in conveyancing and estate management. She
has worked at two major firms, Ballantyne Beswick & Company and
Karene N. Stanley & Co. prior to her joining the firm, both of which have an
established repertoire in the real estate arena. She has represented
developers, individual and corporate purchasers and vendors in divesting and acquisition of lands for
residential and commercial purposes.
She is an active member of the Jamaica Bar Association and is currently undertaking a Real Estate
Salesman Course.
Mr. George G. Soutar, C.D., K.C. is a consultant of the firm. He was
admitted to practice in Jamaica in 1973 after being called to the Bar
in England the previous year. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel
in 2012.
He possesses extensive experience in prosecuting matters both
locally and in the Cayman Islands. The span of his forty-nine years of
legal experience includes Criminal Law, Immigration, Civil
Litigation, Personal Injuries and Company Law. Mr. Soutar has served the legal profession as the former President of the Advocates’
Association of Jamaica and a dedicated member of the General Legal Council for 4 years. He
has chaired numerous public sector companies and committees to include the Public
Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica, Sports Development Foundation and Betting Gaming
and Lotteries Commission. His invaluable service to the Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited,
Jamaica Omnibus Services Limited, Private Security Regulation Authority, Aeronautical
Telecommunications Limited as a Board Member earned him the privilege of being
bestowed the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander in 2017.
Carolyn Reid-Cameron, K.C. is a consultant of the firm. She was
called to the bar in Jamaica in 1988.
She currently holds the position of Public Defender of Jamaica. The
Public Defender is an independent Commission of Parliament of
Jamaica and was established under the Public Defender (Interim)
Act 2000. Prior to her esteemed position, Mrs. Reid-Cameron
previously served as Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions. She
entered private practice in 1996 where she operates a leading
private practice specializing in criminal litigation, alternative dispute resolution, Proceeds of
Crime litigation and constitutional cases.
She was elevated to King’s Counsel in 2018.
Treshauna is our Conveyancing Paralegal. She obtained a Bachelor
of Arts in Literatures in English from the University of the West
Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica in 2015 and was swiftly employed by
the prominent law firm of Abendana & Abendana, which services
clientele in the western and northern regions of the island and the
diaspora in all forms of land transactions, through its relations with
Keller Williams Jamaica.
Treshauna has over seven years of experience in the conveyance of residential, agricultural,
commercial properties including the representation on behalf of the developer, proprietor
and buyer in over 500 transactions. She has had oversight of subdivision of land, strata titling,
first registration of land and interface with the regulators.
She attends the Stamp Office, National Land Agency, Tax Administration on our behalf to
ensure that our real transactions are conducted properly and expediently for our valued
clients.
